Important Sparks City Council meeting
There is an important Sparks City Council meeting on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Legislative Bldg., 745 4th St., Sparks, NV.
The council will discuss changing the zoning plan for the Foothills at Wingfield to allow the construction of 158 new homes on 35 acres. This change would eliminate the ponds opposite Fire Station 5 on Vista Blvd by changing the designation from Open Space to Builder Lot (Low Density Residential).

Wild Horses are Back !
As expected, the wild horses have made their appearance again this year. They were spotted Friday morning (Aug 7) along Desert Vista Drive near the fountain area. Please drive extra slow and be mindful especially at dusk and night time. It is against the law to harass horses or honk if they are on the roadway, so just wait as they will quickly move on. We will be reposting the “caution” signs over the next few days.
Homeowners are allowed to erect temporary fencing in front yards to keep the horses out and help protect their landscaped areas.
We also may need volunteers in the neighborhood to help scoop horse manure again if the horses decide to stick around. The landscape company does not provide this service.
